Pinwheels and Chevrons Scrapbook Page

Yay!  I got another scrapbook page done this week!  This was another page from my March scrapbook club and I just added the pictures and journaling.

I created the fun chevron pattern across the top of the layout with more sale-a-bration paper (Sycamore Street).  I cut it into 3/4" by 1.5" strips and then alternated them in the diagonal lines.

I found it easier to do the bottom line first and then add in the top line.

I added some fun pinwheels that I cut with the pinwheel sizzlits die (from the spring catalogue).

Another fun element on the page was the chevron oval that i cut out.  This is from the "Oh Hello" stamp set in the spring catalogue.  Then I stamped a sentiment from the Sale-a-bration set "Vintage Verses".

The fun color combination was perfect for pictures of my daughter.

Swimming Scrapbook Page

I am finally getting around to getting some pictures on my scrapbook pages I have made in my scrapbook club.  I LOVE to scrapbook but sure don't have as much time to scrap as I used to!  This is a double page layout we created in March.

and here it is with my pictures...

Having my monthly scrapbook club has given me a good excuse to scrap regularly but my biggest hurdle is getting my pictures printed to get on those pages that they are intended for!  Do you find you print less pictures with your digital camera than you did when you used a film camera?  I am horrible at printing them and that puts me further behind in my scrapbooking!

It makes me happy when I do get pictures on and I can add them to my albums!  My kids love to look at their albums too so it does make it really worthwhile!

These pages are of my son having his first swim (6 years ago!).  I created these pages using lots of fun Stampin' Up! products from this year's Sale-a-bration.  Some of the products I used are:
  • Island Indigo Baker's twine
  • Madison Avenue Stamps
  • Sycamore Street Designer Paper, ribbon and buttons
  • Morning Post Alphabet embossed in Pool Party
  • Tasteful trims die
  • Circle Circus stamp set
I love the bright, cheery combination of the blues and orange for summer!

Rainbow Color Wash

I have loved rainbows every since I was really young.  I used to collect stickers with rainbows, draw rainbows and even had a few rainbow shirts as a child.  I loved putting all of my things in "Rainbow color order" (as I called it) with the ROYGBIV pattern.  This was how I kept my crayons, markers and pencil crayons in their boxes.  Maybe I was a little bit on the OCD side by it made me happy!

I was really excited to see this Rainbow Color Wash  technique at the Calgary Regional event-the colors were right up my alley! My technique club this month created this card, showcasing this easy but striking technique.

Here is a quick photo tutorial on how to create it the Rainbow wash look (pictures are from Regionals):

First, choose your markers in the colors you'd like.  These are Real Red, Regal Rose, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, and Rich Razzleberry.
Using watercolor paper, color thick lines of each color across the top of the page.
Then, using an Aqua painter pen, wet each color and pull a bit of the color down to start the drop effect.

Hold your paper vertically.  Take one a mister bottle and spritz water over the color until it starts to run down the page.

Let the water run off of the bottom and set it aside to dry.
Once it is dry, you can add it to your project.

This is the card that Brian Pilling showed us in Calgary.  It is quick and easy but has such a wow factor with the rainbow.  Don't you love it?

Try it!  It is really fun!

Card Candy Swap

Hello everyone!

This week my Inspirations Team had a Card Candy swap at our team meeting.  It was GREAT!  It made us think outside the box and was very different from making cards.  Now we all have a sheet of awesome embellishments to pop onto a card for a quick and easy project!

This is my swap:
I went with a birthday theme.

Dallas O's swap-so springy!  I love the ribbon flower and the cute flowers made out of packing paper from our Stampin' Up! boxes.  Clever!

Holly V's Girly and Glittery swap.- So bright and cheery with lots of sparkle-the way I like them ;)

Lisa M's Bitty Banners swap in my favorite colors!  These look so nice together I don't want to pull them off of the sheet!

Patty N's fun swap.  I love the puppy on the corner because she has a cute one just like him!  The pinwheels are fun and use my favorite paper stack from the spring mini.
Lynn W's baby card candy is super adorable and I can't wait to make a little set of 3x3 cards with these ones!

These swaps were really fun to do and I can't wait to use them!  Thanks to my awesome team members for sharing their creativity!  I can't wait for our next one!

Spring Inspiration with MDS

This is my son on our MOUNDS of snow a couple of days ago.  I know I live on the Canadian Prairies but WHERE IS SPRING?!  I can't even see our car in the driveway!

Needless to say, I am in need of some spring inspiration!  My posts the next few days will hopefully inspire you (and Mother Nature) to BRING ON SPRING :)

This is my MDS calendar page for April.  The pictures were taken late April 2012, a slightly different scene than our yard is now!  It gives me a bit of hope that this snow will disappear...

I love the soft colors, the simple stitching and the quote on this page.  It came together really quickly.  I hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by!  Come visit again this week for some more Spring Projects!
